Cerebrovascular diseases are the principal causes of mortality and disability worldwide. Survival and restoration of correct circulation are the goal of treatment of ischemic stroke. Protein HuR is a member of ELAV protein family. One of best-known functions is stabilize mRNAs in order to regulate gene expression. Minocycline is the most effective neuroprotective tetracycline derivative that has been confirmed in many research models of acute brain damage. Our current research interests involve effects of minocycline on state of penumbra after ischemic stroke by localizing the HuR protein in motor neurons and verification the effects of minocycline on improving motor function.
